The unexpected expat blogger behind PlumStoneFrame

Hi there, I'm Alessandro

I work as a project manager, am a parent, and live abroad as an expat in Rome, Italy.

A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term contract gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.

How It Started

Moving to Italy wasn't in the plans for the long run. Like many relocation stories, it started as a work chance and soon grew into something much larger.

The initial months were demanding — fresh systems, new routines, new expectations. Daily tasks seemed more complicated than they should have.

The Adjustment Period

There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines took shape. We found places that fit us, met other families, and began building something that felt steady.

Why I Built PlumStoneFrame

Most information online was either corporate relocation guidance or surface-level tourist material. What was missing was an honest, everyday family perspective.

This site aims to close that gap — practical advice drawn from real life in Italy.

What This Site Is (And Isn't)

This site IS:

  • Practical experience gained from living in Italy
  • Centered on family life and daily real-world situations
  • Updated whenever there are meaningful changes

This site ISN'T:

  • Not an official tourism authority resource
  • A platform for sponsored reviews
  • An ordinary travel diary

Looking Ahead

Our stay in Italy continues, and the learning journey goes on. As long as the information remains helpful, I’ll continue recording what we discover.

If you have questions about family life in Rome or anywhere in Italy, don't hesitate to get in touch.

Best regards,

Alessandro
